Toronto's only fully immersive English Mandarin School
At The Dalton School, your child will experience all the benefits that come with a bilingual education. Our enriched, academic program develops well-rounded children with the skills and confidence they need to take on future challenges – whatever they may be.

Enriched Academics

The Dalton School is the only school in Toronto that offers a fully immersive dual-language English/Mandarin program.

Our enriched and rigorous curriculum is designed to open-up our students to new ways of thinking, learning, analyzing and perceiving. Equally important, it challenges young minds and builds confidence.

All core grade level academic subjects such as reading, writing, math, science and social studies are taught in both languages by native speaking teachers. The same applies for phys ed, art and music. And all academics surpass the standards of the Ontario curriculum. Students spend half of their day in an English-speaking environment and the other half in a fully-immersed Mandarin setting.

Our teachers also incorporate best practices from international curriculums such as the Chinese National Curriculum, the English National Curriculum, as well as literacy components from the Australian National Curriculum.

We perform English standardized testing annually, administering the Canadian Achievement Test (CAT-4) to assess the basic learning skills of our students in reading, language, spelling and mathematics. In addition, our students take the YCT (HSK) Standardized Chinese Test. It is an international test of foreign speakers of Mandarin. We are proud to say that 100% of our students achieve high levels on both tests.

Our Teachers Are Committed To Excellence

Our experienced, dedicated teachers provide our students with a strong foundation for future learning. They are well educated and have worked in a wide variety of educational settings. The Dalton School also regularly brings in specialists in areas such as science, Chinese art and music to help round out our curriculum.
